After receiving the European Technical Assessment ETA for its latest product, CLT cross laminated timber, Austrian Pfeifer Group is officially taking orders. Trial production has been running at the Hessian Schlitz location since summer of 2019. At first, the company will focus on Germany and its neighbouring countries as target markets, but intends to also serve global demands for CLT in the mid-term.
The Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering (OIB) in Vienna has awarded the European Technical Assessment to the panel-shaped timber construction elements in March. Together with the associated CE marking Pfeifer’s CLT cross laminated timber meets all standards and requirements towards supporting building elements as per European regulations. Ongoing internal and external quality controls continue to secure production in accordance with all standards. These precisely pre-manufactured CLT panels are used as supporting building elements (walls, ceilings, roofs) in demanding timber construction and wow with their extraordinary planning reliability, dry construction method and swift installation. They combine all benefits of solid constructions such as robustness, feature retention as well as noise and fire protection, paired with the unique properties of the sustainable building material that is timber.
Until the spring of 2017 the Pfeifer Group used to produce concrete formwork panels and formwork beams at the Schlitz location in Middle Hessia. Beginning in the autumn of 2017 the Group invested some 25 million Euros in conversion and expansion to set up a state-of-the-art CLT production facility to serve the booming international timber construction market. In the summer of 2019 trial production was commenced on schedule while a technical office directly adjacent to production offers know-how related to individual advice, calculation and project-related order processing. The plant’s first state of expansion is designed to put out 50,000 m³ of CLT annually. The Lauterbach saw mill continues to serve the Pfeifer Group’s second Hessian location as a reliable raw material supplier. This guarantees perfect quality monitoring from raw material to ready-to-dispatch CLT panel.
